A suspect possessed cannabis apprehend with assistance of Navy

A person who possessed a haul of cannabis, was apprehend during an operation carried out by Navy in coordination with Police STF, in Middeniya area on 06^th June 2020.

SL Navy is continuing its operations to prevent illegal drug smuggling while contributing in the campaigns to control pandemic over the country. Accordingly, such an operation was conducted by Naval personnel of Southern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF-Sooriyawewa, in Middeniya area. While the operation, a suspicious person was searched and found 02kg and 200g of cannabis in his possession. The amount of cannabis and the suspect were taken into custody.

The suspect is a resident of the same area aged 30. Recovered cannabis and the suspect were handed over to Middeniya Police for onward investigation.
