Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne declared open a newly constructed jetty (Marine Pier) at SLNS Vidura on 26^th September 2022. The new facility was put up with a view to expand berthing facilities for small craft which are often deployed in the sea area of Trincomalee South.

The first of its kind Basic Diving Module arranged for the lady officers and women sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy concluded on a successful note in Trincomalee recently. The certificate awarding for 03 participants who successfully completed the module was held under the patronage of the Commandant of Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Commodore Damian Fernando at the Diving School in the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 24^th September 2022.

The Navy officers who successfully completed the National Security and Strategic Studies Course No. 1 of National Defence College, Sri Lanka, met Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (23^rd September 2022). The ceremonial graduation was held at the NDC premises on 14 ^th September 2022, on termination of the course.

The closing ceremony of Fishing Vessel Boarding Operation (FVBO) training course, conducted with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was held in Trincomalee on 22nd September 2022. The event was graced by the Norwegian Ambassador in Colombo, H.E. Trine Jøranli Eskedal.

The Navy Sports Club (SC) won the western province under 24 open rugby 7s championship and crowned as plate champion in the Nippon Paint Inter Club Rugby League 2021/2022 recent rugby encounters. Calling on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne who is also the President of Navy Sports Board at the Navy Headquarters today (21st September 2022), the winning captains of respective teams shared a moment with Commander of the Navy with the trophies clinched by the Navy.

The 45th edition of the ‘Sayurusara’ magazine published by the Navy Media was presented to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by the Chief Editor of the magazine, Lieutenant Commander (VNF) SR Sudusinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (21st September 2022).

Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands in India and accredited to Sri Lanka, Captain Robert van Bruinessen called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (21^st September 2022).

‘The official website of Sri Lanka Navy (www.navy.lk) was recognized with a gold medal for the most popular government website category and a bronze medal for the best government website category at the BestWeb.lk 2022 competition, hosted by LK Domain Registry. The respective medals won by the Navy in the competition were presented to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on 20th September 2022.

The spiritual ceremony which saw the enshrinement of sacred relics in stupa and unveiling of spire of historic Swarnapinda Chaithya in Kithulkote was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Chandima Ulugetenne at the Rathana Sadaham Meditation Center, Kithulkote in Thanamalwila on 18th September 2022. The meritorious deed was organized with the contribution of Sri Lanka Navy’s Buddhist Association.

The newly-introduced insignia for the officers of tri-services and Police, who successfully completed the course of National Defence College (NDC), was presented to Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by the Commandant NDC, Major General Amal Karunasekara (Retd) at the Navy Headquarters on 16th September 2022.
