Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne hosted an evening reception for the officers of the Course No 1 of National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka at the Western Naval Command Wardroom on 08th September 2022.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne felicitated 19 naval personnel, who excelled in physical fitness tests, during a ceremony held in this regard at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium today (07th September 2022). In accordance with the Physical Fitness Policy of the Sri Lanka Navy, these nineteen (19) naval personnel were recognized from dedicated fitness tests held in August 2022. The achievers also received prizes, certificates and insignia during the ceremony presided by Commander of the Navy.

Three hundred and thirty four (334) recruits of the 246th intake of Sri Lanka Navy’s Regular and Volunteer Forces passed out in Boossa on 06^th September 2022, on successful completion of their basic training. The fascinating Passing out Parade (POP) was held at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna, keeping with time-honoured naval tradition.

The 78^th Anniversary celebration of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) was marked with the graceful presence of Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) on 04^th September 2022. The impressive occasion held at Attidiya Eagles' Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

A five - day workshop on Comprehensive Approaches to Building Maritime Domain Awareness capabilities in Sri Lanka commenced at the Light House Galley, Colombo on 05^th September 2022. The event, arranged by the Institute for Security Governance (ISG), got off the ground with the coordination of the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka.

The Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627, which was formally handed over to the Sri Lanka Navy by the U.S. Coast Guard in October 2021, departed for Sri Lanka from the Port of Seattle, United States on 03^rd September 2022. The home bound journey began, after the modernization work of the ship to suit the operational needs of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The annual pooja of Lord Ganesh Kovil at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee was held on a successful note on 01^st September 2022. In parallel with the religious ritual a colourful perehera marched in the dockyard premises, carrying the statue of Lord Ganesh.

The Defence Advisor designate at the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Colombo, Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Amir and the incumbent Maldivian Defence Advisor, Colonel Ismail Naseer called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (02^nd September 2022).

Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva today (22nd August 2022) presided over the insignia pinning and certificate awarding ceremony of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy’s Bomb Disposal Training School in Maho.

The residential yoga training programme commenced in the Southern Naval Command on 01st March 2022 came to a successful end. The programme was launched to promote yoga exercises among naval personnel, who are into these practices, from each establishment in the Southern Naval Command and the initiative is being carried out on a successful note as of now.
