Naval personnel welfare is prioritized with several facilities in Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa opened several facilities in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 29th December 2024. These newly built and upgraded facilities were opened to enhance the welfare and support for naval personnel and their families.

Sixteen (16) Midshipmen and thirteen (13) Service Entry candidates commissioned at Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee

A total of 16 Midshipmen from the 38th (Legal) and 39th intakes of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), along with 13 Service Entry candidates, were commissioned on 28th December 2024 at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the event was graced by the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), as the Chief Guest.

Indonesian Naval Ship ‘KRI SULTAN ISKANDAR MUDA-367’ arrived at the Port of Colombo on an official visit this morning (28th December 2024). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions.

Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy hospital ship ‘Peace Ark’ departs island

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy hospital ship ‘Peace Ark’ which arrived in Sri Lanka on 21st December 2024, departed the island today (28th December), on successful completion of its formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

SLNS Sayura returns on successful completion of SLINEX - 24

SLNS Sayura on 24th December 2024 returned to the island on successful completion of Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX) – 24. The annual bilateral exercise SLINEX was successfully held at the Naval Dockyard of Visakhapatnam, India and in the eastern waters from 16th to 20th December 2024.
