Commander of the Navy presides over SBS insignia awarding ceremony

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presided over the ceremony held at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Headquarters in Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee today (07th July 2021) to award insignia to 43 SBS personnel of the 28th intake, who successfully completed their training.

Navy assists COVID-19 inoculation in Western Province

Continuing the COVID-19 vaccination drive focusing on the civilians over 30 years of age in the Western Province, Sri Lanka Navy administered the Sinopharm vaccine at the Lighthouse premises on Chaithya Road Colombo, Elapitiwela Chandrawansha Vidyalaya in Ragama as well as St Mary's Maha Vidyalaya, Uswetakeiyawa today (06th July 2021).

Navy supports acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination in Western Province

Supporting the COVID-19 vaccination programme carried out by the Armed Forces Hospitals of tri-services focusing on the people of the Western Province, to control the transmission of the pandemic, Sri Lanka Navy is conducting inoculation drives to administer Sinopharm vaccine at the Lighthouse premises on Chaithya Road Colombo and Elapitiwela Chandrawansha Vidyalaya in Ragama commencing from today (05th July 2021)

Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT–21) Exercise concludes on successful note

The Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Exercise-2021 held with the participation of Sri Lanka Navy, United States 7th Fleet and Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) from 24th to 30th June 2021 in the Trincomalee harbour and off the eastern coast of Sri Lanka concluded on a successful note.

High Dependency Unit of Kalubowila Teaching Hospital declared open

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (25th June 2021) presided over the opening of High Dependency Unit (HDU) of Colombo South Teaching Hospital Kalubowila, renovated with Navy’s able manpower, as part of its initiatives to strengthen the Government's programme to expand infrastructure required to treat individuals tested positive for COVID-19. In response to a request made by the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka Navy undertook the setting up of this special unit for which financial sponsorship was made by philanthropist from both home and away.

Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training – (CARAT–21) Exercise gets underway in Trincomalee

The inauguration of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training Exercise-2021 popularly known as CARAT got underway at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee under real-time virtual setting today (24th June 2021). Working shoulder-to-shoulder in their commitment to expand relationships and broaden maritime awareness, this year’s exercise is joined by the Sri Lanka Navy, United States 7th Fleet and Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF). The sequential phases of this naval exercise are scheduled to take place until 30th June 2021 in the Trincomalee harbour and off the eastern coast of Sri Lanka.

‘Commander Parakrama Samaraweera Memorial Indoor Sports Complex’ opened in Welisara

Having named after the newly constructed Navy sporting facility as ‘Commander Parakrama Samaraweera Memorial Indoor Sports Complex’, it was declared open under the patronage of Commander of the Navy and President Navy Sports Board, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and with the attendance of beloved wife of late Commander Parakrama Samaraweera, Mrs. Sudarshani Samaraweera at Welisara Naval Complex today (23rd June 2021).
