Navy-constructed ‘Latha Mandapaya’ and ‘Lotus Pond’ at University of Peradeniya declared open

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 06th January 2021 ceremonially declared open a pillared structure (Latha Mandapaya) and Lotus Pond (Nelumpokuna) constructed with the contribution of Sri Lanka Navy, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya.

‘Men in Whites’ provide special apparel for differently abled Navy war veterans

An organization named ‘Men in Whites’, comprising ex-Navy officers provided t-shirts, made of yarn produced by recycled plastic, to differently abled Navy war veterans, during a simple ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters on 31st December 2020. Accordingly, the special apparel was symbolically handed over to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by Commander (Retd) Hiran Zoyza and and Lieutenant (Retd), representing ‘Men in Whites.

Another Reverse Osmosis plant vested with the public in Ambalantota

Yet another Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as a social responsibility initiative of the Sri Lanka Navy, vested with the public at Siyambalakote in Ambalantota on 03rd January 2021. The opening of this facility was presided over by Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa.

Navy-built 800th RO plant declared open at Ruwanwelisaya

As yet another extension of Navy’s Social Responsibility initiatives, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (26th December 2020) declared open the 800th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, set up utilizing the manpower and technology enabled by the Navy and capital made available by Naval Social Responsibility Fund, at Ruwanwelisaya, in Anuradhapura.

Chaithya enshrining ashes of late Most Ven. Gnanadeepa Thero of Denmark vested with devotees for veneration

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (26th December 2020) attended a spiritual ceremony in which he vested a Chaithya built at Ethdalagala Aranya Senasana in Meegalewa, Anuradhapura enshrining ashes of late Most Ven. Gnanadeepa Thero of Denmark, for the veneration of Buddhist devotees. The construction work of this Chaithya was carried out with manpower and funds made available by Sri Lanka Navy.
