In light of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, Sri Lanka Navy stepped into improve facilities of the Dr. Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital to treat COVID-19 patients in a safe and effective manner.

The Navy seized a dinghy carrying a stock of Kerala cannabis weighing about 120kg, during a patrol conducted in the seas south of Mannar on 15^th April 2020. Three (03) suspects in connection to the smuggling of cannabis were also taken into naval custody.

After having identified another 100 persons who were potentially exposed to the individuals previously taken into naval custody in Suduwella area, the Navy sent them to the Naval Quarantine Center located at Sri Lanka Navy Marine’s HQ in Sampoor, Trincomalee today (15^th April 2020). The new batch of people were found from Gunasinghapura, Wellaweediya, Grandpass and Nagalangama areas.

The Navy nabbed 02 persons in possession of 4.8g of heroin, during an operation conducted in Wennappuwa area on 14th April 2020.

A disinfection chamber improvised by Navy as part of its Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project was handed over to the Puttalam Police station today (15^th April 2020).

Sri Lanka Navy deployed its Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) SLNS ‘Samudura’ to seize a vessel loaded with a large consignment of drugs in high seas about 548 nautical miles (985km) off Sri Lankan shores.

In view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Sri Lanka Navy on 14^th April 2020 shared Avurudu sweetmeats with inmates under quarantine at Naval Quarantine Centre in Oluvil.

The Navy, on 15^th April 2020, rendered assistance to transport essential supplies to the Panama area, for distribution among community.

During a patrol conducted from Norochcholai to Karmba in Daluwa on 14^th April 2020, the Navy raided an illicit arrack den and apprehended 02 persons engaged in distillation of illicit alcohol.

The Navy apprehended 17 persons for illegal harvesting of sea cucumber and using unauthorized nets to catch fish. The apprehension was made during a patrol in the sea area west of Padaithurai, Mannar on 14^th April 2020.
