Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the United Nation’s Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held a round table discussion on the challenges associated with suspected vessels of trafficking drugs and other illegal activities, at the Lighthouse Galley in Colombo on 10^th February 2020.

A welfare programme initiated by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), under the auspices of the President of the NSVU, Mrs. Arundathi Udithamala Jayaneththi got off the ground at the Naval Headquarters on 11^th February 2020.

Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) Course for personnel of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) was commenced at the Special Boat Squadron Training School in Trincomalee, today (10^th January 2020).

The Navy, on 09^th February 2020, provided manpower to remove common water hyacinth collected in the Herallugama Tank at Thulana, Medawachchiya, enabling the community to use it again.

International Military Sports Council (CISM) Day Run is organized annually by member countries of International Military Sports Council to celebrate its anniversary worldwide. It is in this backdrop, the Sri Lanka Navy is organizing the CISM Day Run – 2020 which is scheduled to be flagged off at the Galle Face Green on 18^th February 2020 at 5.30 a.m., with the attendance of tri-service personnel and distinguished invitees.

The Navy, during a patrol in the seas off Thalaimannar, managed to rescue 15 sea turtles entangled in a fishing net, today (10^th February 2020).
