Navy enables manpower for installation of solar power system at Gangaramaya Temple, Hunupitiya

The Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor to the President, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka declared open a solar power system at the Gangaramaya Temple, Hunupitiya on 30th August 2024. The occasion was also attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The Navy enabled its able manpower for the installation of the system.

Twenty four (24) Direct Entry officers pass out at Naval and Maritime Academy

A colourful ceremony saw the passing out of 24 Direct Entry officers of the Regular and Volunteer Naval Forces of the Sri Lanka Navy at the main parade ground of Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee today (30th August 2024). At the invitation of Commandant NMA, Commodore Rohan Joseph the ceremony was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, as the Chief Guest.

Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy warships depart island

The trio of Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy warships; "HE FEI", "WUZHISHAN" and "QILIANSHAN" which arrived in Sri Lanka on 26th August 2024, departed the island today (29th August), on successful completion of their formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ships at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

INS Mumbai departs island concluding formal visit

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai which arrived in Sri Lanka on 26th August 2024, departed the island today (29th August), on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda appointed as Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Navy

Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka appointed Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda as the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Navy with effect from 16th August 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera formally handed over the letter of appointment in this regard to Rear Admiral Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters on 26th August 2024 and expressed his best wishes.

Navy donates electric wheelchair to disabled retired sailor

The Sri Lanka Navy donated an electric wheelchair to retired Petty Officer HJ Pushpakumara, who was disabled while in action. The donation was held at his residence on 26th August 2024, with Rear Admiral Priyal Withanage, Director General Services, presiding over the event.
