Foundation stone laid for museum at VNF Headquarters

In a significant development aimed at preserving the rich history and heritage of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force, a foundation stone was laid for a new museum at the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara on 10th June 2024. The museum would house historical photographs and memorabilia of the Volunteer Naval Force, related to significant moments and events from its inception to the present day. The ceremony was presided by the Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Lashanth N Hewavitharane.

Logistics Conference - 2024 and Certificate Awarding of LLMC No. 8 conclude in Trincomalee

The Logistics Conference - 2024 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No.8 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 08th and 09th June 2024. At the invitation of Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Rohan Joseph the Logistics Conference was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest. Professor Nelis Perera, who specializes in Supply Chain Management at the University of Moratuwa, delivered the keynote address at the conference.

Commander of the Navy presides over 25th anniversary of Diving School

The Sri Lanka Navy's Diving School celebrated its 25th anniversary with a commemorative event held at the Diving Training School in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, on 08th June, 2024. The event was graced by Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Commander of the Navy. The Diving School, a vital training institution for navy divers, was originally established on 10th June 1999.

Navy reaches 1000th milestone: new RO plant declared open at Sri Sumana Vidyalaya in Palukadawala

The Sri Lanka Navy achieved a significant milestone in its Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) efforts with the opening of its 1,000th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at Sri Sumana Vidyalaya in Palukadawala, Galgamuwa today (05th June 2024). The opening of the new facility was held under the auspices of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and the Chairman of National Lotteries Board, Dr. Chameera C. Yapa Abeywardena. This project was successfully completed as a result of the Navy's technical expertise and funding from the National Lotteries Board. The Navy's Research and Development Unit is implementing this magnanimous initiative with a view to provide safe drinking water to various areas across the island, addressing the public's needs.

New ETU at SLNS Dakshina declared open

The new Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) and renovated Sick Bay of SLNS Dakshina were declared open by the Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe on 03rd June 2024. The Navy Seva Vanitha Unit provided financial backing to the initiative, while Rajakeeya Panditha Ven. Rajwelle Subhuthi Thero, Director of the Hospital Service Board, donated hospital equipment.

Commander of the Navy attends IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera attended the 21st Asia Security Summit - IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, organized by International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). The 21st Asia Security Summit was held from 31st May to 02nd June 2024 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.

6th Pakistan Navy – Sri Lanka Navy Expert Level Staff Talks conclude on successful note

The 6th iteration of the Pakistan Navy (PN) – Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Expert Level Staff Talks (ELST), held from 28th to 30th May 2024, concluded on a successful note. At ELST, the Sri Lanka Navy delegation was led by Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris, Director General Operations, while the Pakistan Navy delegation was headed by Rear Admiral Faisal Amin Hi (M).

Scoping discussion relating to MoU between U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration and Sri Lanka Navy held

The Sri Lanka Navy and U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation to detect and interdict illicit trafficking in special nuclear material and other radioactive material through technical and methodological cooperation, on 28th February 2024. The first scoping discussion with regard to this matter commenced on 03rd June 2024, at the Navy Headquarters.
