The Director General Logistics, Rear Admiral Nihal Fernando bade farewell to his 32-year-long illustrious naval career today (30 January).

Lieutenant Commander Harsha Udawatta of Sri Lanka Navy emerged as the first ever champion, under the defence category, at the Commander’s Cup-2018 Annual Golf Tournament hosted by the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Eagales’ Golf Links at China Bay in Trincomalee on 27th January.

Based on information received by the Navy, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command, under the directives of its Area Commander, Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe, nabbed 2 Sri Lankan nationals who were attempting to smuggle 12 kg of gold to India via sea.

On receipt of information to the Navy, naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command in coordination with officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Negombo apprehended a person for possessing 22 kg of turtle meat and 5.4 kg of turtle eggs, during a search conducted in Pitipana area yesterday (25 January).

On receipt of information, naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command apprehended a person who was transferring 300 Kgs of fish caught by illegal fishing practices, during a raid carried out in coordination with Trincomalee Police and officials from Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, yesterday (24 January).

Based on information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Navy rendered assistance to bring a critically ill fisherman ashore for immediate treatment today (25 January).
