The Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Bryce Hutchesson met the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo today (06 December).

The Bangladesh Naval Ship (BNS) Bijoy arrived at the port of Colombo on a goodwill visit today (06 December). The ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions. The Defence Attaché of the High Commission of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka, Commodore Syed Maksumul Hakim was also present on this occasion.

Navy apprehended 23 persons engaged in illegal acts at several locations in island in the past few days. Accordingly, 3 persons for possessing Kerala cannabis, a persons for possessing intoxicating drugs, a person for keeping counterfeit money, a person with heroin, 2 suspects for fishing dolphins, 2 racketeers with sandalwood logs and 13 persons engaged in illegal fishing were taken into naval custody.
