Navy’s Research and Development Unit produced a new Air Boat with a view of empowering operations of the Navy in an emergency situations, specially like floods. Accordingly the newly produced Air Boat was launched in the presence of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng.

The Community Service Project of the Sri Lanka Navy will continue its noble tasks into the future, having being completed its first year of operations as at 22nd December 2016.

The Navy’s Research and Development Unit being the innovative hand of the Sri Lanka Navy performed an excellent service over the years. Upon the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and under the leadership of Captain Priyankara Dissanayake the Navy initiated several new projects to address the social issues found among the civilian population, with a new dimension.

Naval personnel stationed at the Port of Hambantota rendered assistance to eleven Merchant Vessels which arrived at the harbour from 10th to 21st December 2016.

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest 17 Indian fishermen along with 3 Indian fishing trawlers, poaching in Sri Lankan waters, North West and South West of Delft Island this evening (21).
