The Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral Sunil Lanba who arrived in Sri Lanka to take part in the Galle Dialogue 2016 International Maritime Conference, paid a visit to the Eastern Naval Command yesterday (30).

The Commander of the US Pacific Command Admiral Harry B Harris who was on an official visit to Sri Lanka to attend the Galle Dialogue 2016, took time off to visit the Naval Base, Trincomalee on 29th November.

The International Maritime Conference, “Galle Dialogue 2016”, organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence, concluded yesterday (29) on a high note pledging support for fostering strategic maritime partnerships.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya located in Kalpitiya in the North Western Naval Command arrested 17 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities in the sea area between Udappuwa and Sinna Padu and seas off Uchamunia (28) yesterday.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijayaba located in Nilaveli in the Eastern Naval Command arrested 8 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the sea area off Salli Sambalthivu on (28) yesterday.

The foreign delegates who are attending the Galle Dialogue - 2016 in Colombo, called on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne to express their thanks for the Sri Lanka Navy's flag ship event, the Galle Dialogue, which has attracted many maritime experts and strategists around the world for exchange of views and discussions which are of great importance for Fostering Strategic Maritime Partnerships among stakeholders.

The International Maritime Conference, 'Galle Dialogue 2016' organized by the Sri Lanka Navy in partnership with Ministry of Defence, commenced at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo today (28).
