The 47th edition of ‘Sayurusara’ magazine published by the Directorate of Naval Media was presented to the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera by the Chief Editor of the magazine, Commander (VNF) SR Sudusinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (27th November 2023).

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa attended the all-night Pirith Chanting and Alms Giving ceremonies held at the Welisara Naval Complex on 24th and 25th November 2023. The meritorious events were organized by the Buddhist Association of the Navy to invoke blessings on the forthcoming 73rd Anniversary (09th December) of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Sri Lanka Navy joined hands with the Lions Clubs of Trincomalee to conduct a community eye clinic and non-communicable diseases prevention programme at the Hindu Cultural Hall, Trincomalee on 22nd November 2023.

The certificate awarding of “Operational Coordination of Emergency Response at Sea” advanced training module was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee on 24th November 2023. The training module, tailored for officers and sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard, was conducted by the French MRCC of Reunion Island.

The graduation ceremony of Course No.2 of the National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka was held under the auspices of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe at Eagles’ Lakeside, Aththidiya on 21st November 2023. The colourful ceremony, held in dignified sequence, was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Sri Lanka Navy today (23rd November 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Jalaj Ponnamperuma who relinquished his naval duties to which he was committed over the past 35 years.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera along with the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa attended the Joint Christian Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service at All Saints' Church – Borella on 21st November 2023.

The annual Katina Pinkama ceremony of Rathana Sadaham Meditation Centre in Kithulkote, Thanamalwila was successfully held with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy on 18th and 19th November 2023.

The 33rd Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) successfully concluded at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on 18th November 2023. The certificate awarding ceremony, held at the auditorium of NMA, was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of Commandant NMA, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera hosted a customary evening reception for the officers of the Course No 2 of National Defence College (NDC), Sri Lanka at the Western Naval Command Wardroom on 17th November 2023.
