Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Sri Lanka Navy has been implementing a number of community service programmes for the benefit of the general public across the country.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Parakumba located in Sampoor in the Eastern Naval Command, during their routine sea patrol, arrested 2 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities in the sea area off Sampoor yesterday (28).

Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who is currently on an official visit to the United States, met the US Assistant Secretary, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Ms. Nisha Biswal, at the United States Department of State on Tuesday (27) and held discussions on matters which are mutually beneficial.

On receipt of intelligence, a group of naval personnel attached to SLNS Gotabaya in Mullaitivu belonging to the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with Mulathivu Police arrested 77.5 kg of Kerala Cannabis while being transferred in a three-wheeler in the coastal area of Ambalampokkane in Pudukurippu yesterday (23).
