The Defence Adviser of Indian High Commission in Colombo, Captain Vikas Sood paid a farewell call on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters on 05th October 2023.

The Deputy Commander Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), Commodore (Royal Navy) Philip Edward Dennis, currently in Sri Lanka on an official visit, called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (02nd October 2023).

In a momentous occasion, seven (07) officers belonging to the Medical Branch of the Sri Lanka Navy (Regular) passed out at the main parade ground of Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Trincomalee on 30th September 2023. The ceremony was graced by the Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Buddhika Liyanagamage.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera attended the 25th International Seapower Symposium (ISS) which was held at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island from 19th to 22nd September 2023. As part of this visit, he met with several top brass of the maritime forces from regional and extra-regional countries, including the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti, the Commandant U.S. Coast Guard, Admiral Linda Fagan, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo and the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper. During the ensuing discussions, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera shared views on maritime security, cooperation and several matters of bilateral importance with those chiefs of maritime forces.

The Navy joined hands with the Sri Lanka Shipping Company Limited to conduct a tree planting initiative at the Galle Face Green today (23rd September 2023).

In a dignified sequence, the inspection of divisions of the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Annual Training Camp was held at the parade ground of SLNS Lanka in Welisara on 21st September 2023. At the invitation of the Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral Saman Perera and Commanding Officer VNF, Commodore Nimal Wasantha, the occasion was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, as the Chief Guest.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Nireekshak which arrived in Trincomalee on 14th September 2023 on a formal visit, departed the island 21st September. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval tradition at the port of Trincomalee.

A Bangladesh Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) delegation, currently in Sri Lanka as part of overseas study tour, visited the Navy Headquarters and called on the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne on 19th September 2023.

The yoga instructor training programme, conducted by the veteran actress and Yoga Acharini Mrs Anoja Weerasinghe for naval personnel, concluded on 18th September 2023. The closing ceremony held at the Commander Parakrama Samaraweera Memorial Indoor Sports Complex, SLNS Gemunu was held under the patronage of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne.

The awarding of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System certificate to the Commodore Superintendent Engineering Department in North Central Naval Command was held under the patronage of Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, and with the attendance of the Deputy Director General / Director (System Certification), Mrs SU Narangoda and Deputy Director General / Director (Quality Assurance) of Mrs NBD Neelakanthi of Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) at the Malima Reception Hall, SLNS Pandukabhaya – Poonewa on 15th September 2023.
