Under the esteemed patronage of the Chief of Staff to the President and National Security Advisor, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka, a beach cleaning programme unfolded at Port City Beach on 16th September 2023. This initiative which was conducted on the sidelines of the International Coastal Cleanup Day and the National Marine Resources Conservation Week was also participated by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.In a concerted effort to combat coastal pollution and preserve the natural beauty of shores, the Sri Lanka Navy orchestrated a series of beach cleaning programmes across all Naval Commands.

The 9th General Deshamanya Dennis Perera Oration, organized by the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO), was held at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Auditorium on 15th September 2023. At the invitation of ARFRO, the ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who also delivered the memorial oration of the annual event.

A group of 52 undergraduates pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering at the Ocean University of Sri Lanka visited the Navy engineering workshops at SLNS Rangalla on 29th August 2023. This opportunity enabled them to acquire direct, hands-on understanding of the repair and maintenance operations conducted within naval facilities.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (15th September 2023).

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Nireekshak’ arrived at the Trincomalee harbour on a formal visit this morning (14th September 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval tradition.

A special discussion on the role of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Colombo and the contingency plan for maritime disasters was held at the Navy Headquarters on 06th September 2023. The discussion which was presided by the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake was also attended by a group of representatives from Marine Environment Protection Authority and the European Union Mission in Sri Lanka.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera undertook a formal visit to the Northwestern Naval Command on the 09th and 10th of September 2023. This visit encompassed a comprehensive overview of operational matters, developmental initiatives, and welfare projects underway within the command.

On successful completion of their training at Naval Institute of Technology (NIT) in Welisara, eleven (11) naval artificer apprentices of the 19th artificer intake of NIT passed out at the main parade ground of NIT in Welisara today (08th September 2023). The ceremony was graced by Director General Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Rear Admiral Viraj Leelarathna, as the Chief Guest.

The 16th International Research Conference (IRC) of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) commenced at the KDU Auditorium on 07th September 2023 with the gracious presence of the Chief of Staff to the President and National Security Advisor, Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka. The event which was graced by the Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), as the Guest of Honour, was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera who is also the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force to combat the use of poisonous and dangerous drugs chaired a special meeting at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo on 01st September 2023.
