Bangladesh Naval Ship “Abu Bakr” arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 20th October 2015.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka His Excellency Mr. Chang Won-sam called on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters on 19th October 2015.

The inter command basketball tournament - 2015 was held at SLNS Barana in Mullikulam from 12th to 17th October 2015 with the participation of all commands of the Sri Lanka Navy.

A blood donation campaign was held at the North Central Naval Command Hospital in Poonawa on 16th October 2015 in coordination with the Area Blood Bank and the General Hospital, Mullaitivu.

Three hundred and sixty-six naval recruits belonging to the 223rd regular intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out at SLNS Nipuna in Boossa on 17th October 2015. The Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Ranasinghe attended the event as the Chief Guest and took the salute. The Commandant of SLNS Nipuna, Commodore Nilantha Heenatigala, senior naval officers, parents, and well-wishers were also present on the occasion.

The Sri Lanka Navy granted one million rupees as death compensation to the father of the late Able Seaman YB Dharmasena, who had died of a road traffic accident.

The Indian Ocean Region's Senior Drug Enforcement Officials' Meeting which was jointly organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Defence got underway at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo on 13th October 2015.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Therapuththa in Silawathurai arrested five personnel along with a Fiber Glass Dinghy and a Purse-seine net in the seas of Arippu whilst engaged in illegal fishing on 14th October 2015.

Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest nine Indian fishermen and an Indian fishing trawler poaching in Sri Lankan waters North East of Point Pedro on 14th October 2015. Approximately 600 kgs of fish catch, which included cuttlefish, Maduwa and Karalla was also taken into custody during the arrest.

The Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardane declared open the newly constructed Senior Officers’ Holiday Bungalow at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa on 12th October 2015. Senior naval officers in the area were also present on the occasion.
