As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community development and social responsibility project, the North Western Naval Command conducted two field health clinics on 25th and 28th May 2014 in parallel with 5th anniversary of SLNS Barana.

The Navy recorded an impressive performance at the Indian Division Cup Sailing Regatta 2014 held at the Bolgoda Lake on 24th May 2014.

Commander of the Navy and Chairman of the Ceylon Shipping Corporation Limited, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage and General Manager of the People’s Bank, Mr. Vasantha Kumar signed the loan agreement for the purchase of two 63,600 MT DWT bulk carrier ships at the Naval Headquarters on 27th May 2014.

A Dhamma Desana organized by SLNS Parakrama of the Western Naval Command was held at SLNS Parakrama on 26th May 2014. It was delivered by Ven. Walasmulle Gunarathana Thera.

The Inter Command table tennis championship 2014 was held at the indoor stadium of the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee from 21st to 24th April 2014.

The Navy won the second place at the Defence Services Golf Tournament conducted at the Air Force golf course in China Bay, Trincomalee from 23rd to 24th May 2014.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage has awarded a commendation letter to Fleet Chief Petty Officer (CE) UL Jayasantha in recognition of his talent, technical knowledge, dedication and commitment which has brought credit to the Navy.

Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Gun Boat, Edithara II was ceremonially relaunched after semi-refit at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 21st May 2014.
