The Perahera of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone was colourfully held on the night of 06th May 2023. Following the wise counsel of Anunayake of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya, Venerable Dr Kirinde Assaji Thero and directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Buddhist Association of the Sri Lanka Navy had made arrangements in place for the successful conduct of the colourful procession. The Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya is held as part of the 2567th Anniversary of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi.

Going by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Sri Lanka Navy commemorated the 2567th Anniversary of Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi on 05th May 2023. Thus, all Naval Commands have organised Buddhist religious events giving pride of place to Material and Practice Offerings (Amisa and Prathipaththi Puja). The Navy also added glamour to the 'Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone' and State Vesak Festival at Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Viharaya.

The Chief of the Air Staff of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari who is now on an official visit to Sri Lanka, met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters, Colombo today (02nd May 2023).

The Presidential Environment Awards 2021- 2022 was held on 28th April 2023 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, under the patronage of the President Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe. The ceremony saw the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee winning the golden award for Navy’s environmentally conscious operations. The Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara received the golden award from the President on this occasion.

The Logistics Conference - 2023 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No.7 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 29th and 30th April 2023. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Logistics Conference was graced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe.

The Institute for Security Governance (ISG), in the United States conducted a three (03) day workshop on Institutional Capacity Building for the Sri Lanka Navy. The programme held from 25th to 27th April 2023 at the Navy Headquarters came to a successful end, enhancing the capacity and capabilities of the Navy in various areas.

A French delegation including the French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Jean-François PACTET visited the Navy Headquarters on 24th April 2023. Meanwhile, the delegation members also visited the Eastern Naval Command on 26th April.

A Nigerian National Defence College (NDC) delegation, comprising its student officers and directing staff, visited the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (24th April 2023).

The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with Siyatha TV, organized a grand celebration for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 22nd April 2023. The event was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, as the Chief Guest.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera officially launched the website for the upcoming International Maritime Conference ‘Galle Dialogue 2023’ at the Navy Headquarters today (21st April 2023).
