The Ambassador of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Sri Lanka H.E. Khaled Nasser AlAmeri met with the Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara at the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters today (14th March 2023).

USS Charleston (LCS - 18) of the U.S. Navy arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on the morning of 11th March 2023. Upon her arrival, the ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval tradition.

The Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) today (11th March 2023) held a special programme to mark the International Women's Day, which fell on 08th March. The event was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and the President of NSVU, Mrs Mala Lamahewa in the Welisara Naval Complex.

In a momentous occasion, the Sri Lanka Navy commissioned five (05) Service Entry candidates into the naval service. The ceremony was held at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Trincomalee today (11th March 2023). At the invitation of the Commandant NMA, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando the ceremony was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, as the Chief Guest.

The Special Boat Squadron (SBS) held an insignia awarding and passing out ceremony today (10th March 2023) to mark the termination of SBS training which was successfully completed by 01 officer and 31 sailors. At the invitation of the Commanding Officer SBS, Commander Dharmasiri Herath, the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest, graced the event which was held in a dignified sequence at the SBS Headquarters in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee.

The 46th edition of ‘Sayurusara’ magazine published by the Directorate of Naval Media was presented to the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera by the Chief Editor of the magazine, Lieutenant Commander (VNF) SR Sudusinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (08th March 2023).

The Sri Lanka Navy joined hands with the Lions Clubs of Trincomalee and Hendala to conduct a community eye clinic and non-communicable diseases prevention programme at the Abeypura Community Health Centre, Trincomalee on 05th March 2023.

The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu concluded on a successful note on 03rd and 04th March 2023. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Anton Ranjith Pillenayagam, and proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram and with the support of Navy Christian Council. The annual festival was attended by a number of devotees from both India and Sri Lanka. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the main mass was attended by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon.
