Navy nabs 03 persons for spearfishing off Colombo Port
The Sri Lanka Navy, during a special search operation conducted off the coast of the Colombo Port on 25 Jan 25, apprehended three (03) individuals engaged in illegal fishing activities using spear guns, along with a dinghy (01).
This operation, carried out by SLNS Rangalla in the Western Naval Command, led to the inspection of a suspicious dinghy in the waters off the Colombo Port. Upon examination, the three (03) suspects were apprehended for conducting illegal fishing using spear guns. The Navy also seized the dinghy used for the unlawful activity.
The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Dehiwala area, aged between 47 and 62. The apprehended suspects, along with the dinghy and fishing gear, were handed over to the Dikowita Fisheries Inspector for further legal action.
